Zimbabwe: DJ Flevah for BBA Party

Zi-Judgment disc jockey DJ Flevah is set to rock Big Brother Africa house later this month. DJ Flevah whose real name Tendai Tembo is expected to join a host of other African finest DJs to perform at Friday parties at the show. In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, DJ Flevah said he is promising fireworks at the house party. "I heard we get the playlist and equipment to use but believe you me, I will use the opportunity to market Zimbabwe," he said.

He said was happy to receive the confirmation from Multichoice Zimbabwe on Wednesday night.

"I got a call from the publicist Liz Dziva who then confirmed my show performance at Africa's reality show BBA and I am very excited and looking much forward to perform," he said.

DJ Flevah said although his recent rapid surge to fame via dancehall selections, he is not only a dancehall selector but the span of his diversity lies deeper within the history of his career.

He is one of the front liners in the dancehall mixtape super kings Judgement Yard, and his selections are up to times with international dancehall tastes and trends.

"I want to give a point of correction on the perception of me making a living off dancehall alone.

"I don't make a living off dancehall solely but am pursuing a career in music as a DJ.

My passion for music has seen me make a mark as a DJ in playing any genre you can think of.

"Basically, l've performed well in playing music in general, my history as a DJ is longer than the current recognition of dancehall. I have a very deep foundation and understanding as far as my passion for music is concerned,"he said.

In his 11-year career that became rewarding in recent years thanks to a massive distribution of Judgement Yard live performances, DJ Flevah has headlined top tier shows that most artists can only dream of. He has played at HIFA, the Victoria Falls Carnival and had stints in South African night clubs.

"The selector has the most challenging task of reading the audience's mood in determining what specific track to play at a specific time utilising a distinct of change-over from one song to the next and one riddim to the next.

"The MC on the other hand should be an orator highly skilled in the art of persuading the audience about what to expect from the coming track. The MC puts audience in best mood to enjoy tracks selected by the DJ."
