This morning RJ Benjamin was back in the house and upon entering, he quickly gathered up the housemates and started them off with breathing lessons. In no time the housemates were onto a humming exercise which warmed up their voices in the process. Notably, the house was less chirpy with sombre faces and perhaps this was because of the missing voices of Lilian, Esther and Sabina, who were evicted on last night’s live show.
RJ Benjamin was focused on teaching the housemates the technique of handling a microphone. Apparently it was not sufficient to merely possess a beautiful voice and be able to perform in front of crowds, but that what was also of particular importance was how an artist handled the microphone. RJ gave them a lesson on how to hold the microphone and control their breathing whilst singing. The lesson involved distinguishing what different types of artists achieved in the manner in which the held the microphone. All in all, the lesson was about the do’s and don’ts of handling the mic.
For the practical experience, Alusa was first up on the stand to show off what he has learnt. The only Kenyan Hotshot proved to be not only a good actor but a talented gentleman with a pretty decent voice too. RJ Benjamin called him up again following some feed-back on how he could better control his breathing on the mic. What more can we anticipate from Alusa?
Alusa was followed by Arthur and as soon as RJ Benjamin had left and shower-hour had been announced, the Hotshots continued taking turns on the mic, singing and reciting poetry.
